June 20th is Bald Eagle Appreciation Day, also known as National American Eagle Day! This day commemorates the anniversary of choosing the bald eagle as the American national symbol in 1782. For today, Howard letterpress printed an image from a photo engraving from the Bill Skarles Collection. This patriotic cut depicts a bald eagle. June is Pride Month! This year’s Pride Month marks the 57th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in New York City, a series of events between police and LGBTQ protesters that stretched over 6 days. This was following a police raid on the Stonewall Inn on June 28, 1969. This was considered the tipping point for the modern LGBTQ movement in the United States.
